Chapter Seven Continued: Susan Cautions Kip About Britt

“So, want to hang out next weekend?”

Kip turned her head when she heard that question, wondering who was asking Susan. She saw Britt standing near Susan’s desk and tried to smile at her, but Britt didn’t look at Kip. Purposefully?

Kip slowly closed her notebook, wondering how Susan would respond. Would she tell Britt that she has plans to go to the barn with Kip?

“Ummm…I don’t know what I am doing yet,” Susan said. Kip’s heart fell right to her shoes.

Britt didn’t seem deterred by Susan’s response as she said, “You could come with my family to the movies. I promise I won’t eat all the popcorn this time! Let me know when you figure it out.” Britt walked back to her seat after dropping her Serendipity Journal into the bin. Kip wondered what she was writing back and forth with Mrs. Holiday.

Susan turned to Kip and whispered, “Remember how I told you that Britt and I got into a huge fight this summer and stopped being friends? Well, this is what always happens. As soon as she sees that I am making some new friends, she wants to be my friend again. I am not going to give in this time! Every time I do, she ends up saying mean things about me behind my back. She will never change.”

Kip felt reassured and breathed a sigh of relief. But that relief didn’t last long because Susan went on to give Kip a warning.

“Just be careful Kip, Britt tends to get really jealous of any new friends I make. She can be really, really mean. Especially when she teams up with Cody, they can be vicious together.”

Gulp. Kip’s head was spinning and the empowered feeling she had when she was writing to Mrs. Holiday flew out the window. “Oh boy,” Kip thought to herself as she panicked, “This is not good.” Not good at all.

    I was wondering if Susan says no to the movies, will Britt and Cody team up and start bullying her. Also will Kip also be dragged into the drama between Britt and Susan. I am really excited to find out what happens next.

  6. I’m wondering about what caused the fight between Britt and Susan, and how that will affect things in the future. Also, I’m curious to see if Kip will try and work things out between Britt and Susan, or if she’ll get stuck in the drama.

  10. Hi, I think in the first sentence of paragraph 6 you should say “and we stopped being friends” instead of just “and stopped being friends” for clarity. Also I love the story so far.

  12. Dear Mrs.Aspen,
    I think that when you showed Britt really trying to be friends with Susan again it showed that there friendship might be done and Susan wants to find new ones that wont consistently do mean things behind her back. Also when Susan was talking to Britt is seemed like Kip was a little jealous and I wonder if that will affect the story later.

  14. I love how you added more backstory, it had a lot of questions answered. The ending was a great cliffhanger and i can’t wait to see what happens next

    I like how you went into more detail about why Susan and Britt aren’t friends anymore, but I think adding extra details and more of a backstory to why they aren’t friends anymore would add even more to the story.

    I infer that Susan is warning to watch out for Britt and her jealousy for Susan’s new friends. This section of the book got me excited because I can’t wait to learn about what happens next! This section of the story also answers why Susan doesn’t want to become friends with Britt anymore. I also think that you could maybe add some more detail about their fight that they had during the summer.

  17. Would like to know more about their friendship and what caused their fight. Will Brit and Cody team up and split Kip and Susan apart so Susan will go back to being friends with Brit because she no longer has other friends

    I am guessing that later near the end of the book, Kip will find a way to have her, Britt, and Susan to all be friends. I like how you keep me (and other readers) wondering what’s going to happen next.

    I think this chapter introduced Britt’s character more. I wonder how Susan knows how Britt will feel about any new friends. Did Susan make a friend once that was bullied by Britt?
    I’m excited to learn what decision Susan will make about her weekend plans!

  21. We were glad to learn more about Britt’s personality, and it definitely gave us some insight about why Susan and Britt were fighting. We wondered how Britt’s personality would be towards Kip, because we know that she has become jealous of Susan’s new friend. We look forward to reading more!

    I really like the book so far. I was wondering what Britt and Cody do that makes Susan think that they can be really ‘vicious’ together. This made me wonder if Susan has made a friend before that was bullied by Britt.

    One question that i have is how do Cody ans Britt know each other? It would be nice to know how they met. One other thing that would be nice to know, is why does Cody help Britt in the first place. I think it would be nice to know a little backstory.

    Hi Mrs Apsey I like the chapter but I wounder what kip’s argument was about but hears my opinion I think that Britt is Pupsfully leaving Kip out and anoying her She is bulling her.
